When your mom gets scared...
Date: (Tuesday, January 19, 2010)

Ladies and Gentleman, I wish to escape from my usual humorously playful banter in these articles/blogs by talking to you about something very serious, Emergency Preparedness.

Contemporary news shows bombards us daily with the risks of living in our modern world. Terrorists, deadly viruses, and the list grows daily. But what do you do, how do you guard yourself from what could happen and how should you react when something does go wrong?

It is impossible to predict when an earth shattering emergency will happen, or even what it will be. But rest assured I have, through great research, figured out exactly what you should do in any given emergency.

Find Will Smith.

Why you may ask? It’s clear, no one man on this planet has as much experience dealing with crises like he does, for example:

Zombie invasion...I am Legend

Alien Attack... Independence Day (or if they are cute and funny, Men in Black)

Robots going haywire and attacking humans...I, Robot

What to do if drug dealers start running the world?... Bad Boys 1 & 2

What about a government conspiracy...Enemy of the State

Super-villains giving you trouble?...Hancock

But the problems don’t have to be that big in order to seek Will Smith’s advice and guidance. Will Smith proved in Hitch he can help you with girl problems (which helps almost everyone...except Jay-Z of course). And what do you do if people are making trouble in your neighbourhood? You got it, contact the Fresh Prince himself.

So in a time when proactive planning, and emergency response plans are all the rage, you now know what to do.

*disclaimer* this is way too creative to be an original idea, but I can’t remember for the life of me where I got this idea from, so I hope you enjoy it and if you know where this came from, let me know and I’ll give credit where credits due.

Until next time, keep it “fresh”;

Steven Kwasny

Your Student President

Dagen Bird ImageHey everyone, my name is Steven Kwasny. It is my pleasure this year to serve as your SA President.

I’m a Political Science major but my interests really lay everywhere. I love going to movies, catching up on current events, music, hanging out and talking to other people.

But you’re probably wondering, “That’s nice ... but what do you do for me?”

Well, it is my job to make sure that students are always treated with fairness and that they are always the centre of thought for RDC. Additionally I am involved provincially with our student lobby group ASEC, so this blog will include update on what’s happening here at home, in the province, and sometimes nationally.

I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email me at steven.kwasny@rdc.ab.ca or give me a call at 403-356-4976.
