Date: (Thursday, October 29, 2009) As per usual I have something irrelevant to mention before I get started into my main topic. This one is around Halloween. I had the best costume I may have ever had; I dressed as a pig, put on wings and went as swine flu…cue laughter…thanks.
Alright, so what will I talk about this week?
I trust you all had a good Halloween and although it was on a Saturday this year the festivities didn’t get in the way of your studies or at the very least you had the intention too. Me too…
Being organized for school is not easy. Not being organized on the other hand is very easy; but if we do a cost-benefit analysis (something I know nothing about, and am probably going to do wrong) on those two situations you find that despite not being organized being much easier (costing much less time) you don’t really receive any sort of benefit from it. On the flipside of that coin by investing some time in organizing your life, your marks will show the benefits.
If you are like me and being organized does require that bit of investment, and you just aren’t sure how to do it, please check out the excellent people at the Counselling and Career Services office in room 1402 and they will gladly help you.
Now, it’s ok that you’re surprised and somewhat impressed that I can segue from Halloween to time management, I strive to please you.
On another completely unrelated note, I would to say how incredible impressed I am by what is going on in the college this year. RDC has a remarkable student population.
The Hospitality and Tourism Management Students put on a wonderful Wine Tasting Preview for their 6th annual Wine Tasting Event which will be on November 6th, good luck with that, if it is anything like the preview it will be a great event.
For those of you that aren’t involved in a student group, we have some excellent ones doing some great stuff, keep your eyes peeled for their events.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to the department of Humanities and Social Science for putting on two excellent events, the “awesome-ly” attended World Religion Conference and the informative Gwyn Morgan, with the Perspectives Speaker Series.
And finally a huge thanks to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for their generous donation to our Student Food bank.
Thanks for reading,
Steven Kwasny
