Life gives you as much as you put in
Date: (Wednesday, September 16, 2009)
Before I get into my article I would first like to thank all the volunteers who helped out with Orientation/DisOrientation and also thank all the people that came out and had fun.

So my article this week is going to be pretty short. With how busy we all were last week I didn’t have time to research anything, but I would like to ask your help with something. How would you like people to know what you’re thinking? Your opinions on movies? Favourite restaurants?  Or maybe why or why not you should go out and vote. What I’m getting at is why don’t you write for the Bricklayer?

You might be thinking, “but I have never written for a newspaper before,” but just so you know ... neither have I!

You might say “I don’t know what I should write about” write about what interests you, or ask the SA publications manager Anne Cooper; after all she is the Bricklayer guru.

I strongly urge you to write for the Bricklayer, it will enhance your writing skills, it looks pretty good on a resume, and it’s a lot of fun.

If writing isn’t your thing the Bricklayer also needs photographers too, so if you are interested in any of the above come talk to Anne up in the SA office or call her @ 403-342-3200.

I am a firm believer that life is going to give you as much as you are willing to put in, so if you want the best possible college experience, go out and create it. We had an awesome first week with people wanting to get involved, so keep that up; start a group, join a club, write for the Bricklayer, come out to college events.

Now with that all being said, I hope you have a great two weeks and I’ll have another one of these for you when the next Bricklayer comes out.

Steven Kwasny
SA President

Your Student President

Dagen Bird ImageHey everyone, my name is Steven Kwasny. It is my pleasure this year to serve as your SA President.

I’m a Political Science major but my interests really lay everywhere. I love going to movies, catching up on current events, music, hanging out and talking to other people.

But you’re probably wondering, “That’s nice ... but what do you do for me?”

Well, it is my job to make sure that students are always treated with fairness and that they are always the centre of thought for RDC. Additionally I am involved provincially with our student lobby group ASEC, so this blog will include update on what’s happening here at home, in the province, and sometimes nationally.

I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email me at steven.kwasny@rdc.ab.ca or give me a call at 403-356-4976.
